Astak 5″ EZ Reader Pocket PRO Review

  by Ewdison Then (slashgear.com) - 11-2009

slashgear.com

The ebook reader market has steadily segmented into two niches: the entry-level, non wireless devices and the generally store-affiliated, connectivity-stuffed models. Astak's EZ Reader falls resolutely into the former category, a compact tablet with a...

The Astak EZ Reader doesn’t exactly grab the eye like a Kindle or Barnes and Noble Nook, but it’s reasonably flexible. The display may be compact at 5-inches, but that allows the device as a whole to be particularly portable; after all, just as the...

Nice design ; Includes case, MP3 player, and earphones ; Supports 20 file formats, including ePub

Font sizing options are very poor ; Overall usability isn't great

The Astak EZReader PocketPro has lots of great features for its price, but they don't make up for poor font options and subpar usability.

Review: Astak EZ Reader PocketPro e-book reader

  by Yardena Arar (macworld.com) - 12-2009

The Astak EZReader PocketPro has lots of great features for its price, but they don't make up for poor font options and subpar usability.

Includes case, MP3 player, and earphones ; Nice design ; Supports 20 file formats, including ePub

Font sizing options are very poor ; Overall usability isn't great

First, the PockerPro's pluses: It weighs 6 ounces, a nice match for its 6.0-by 4.1-by-0.4-inch dimensions. Available in six colors (black, navy, white, red, pink, and purple), it comes cradled inside a handsome, sturdy flip-open leatherlike cover with...

Astak EZ Reader PocketPro ebook reader

  by Yardena Arar (techworld.com) - 11-2009

The Astak EZ Reader PocketPro is about the same size as the Sony Reader Pocket Edition. Both have 5-inch, 8-grayscale E Ink screens and cost $199, putting at the small (and inexpensive) end of the ebook reader continuum. But some significant...

Access to diverse and useful font sizes is a major selling point for ebook readers; and for me the lack of good choices is a dealbreaker on the PocketPro, which otherwise has a lot to recommend it.

The Aztak EZ Reader Pocket Pro is about the size of a paperback book. It comes with a stitched leather binder that protects it without adding much in the way of bulkiness. The device can be removed easily from the binder and is coated with a non-slip...

Comfortable size, great contrast, flexible text sizing, fast accessibility and paging, easy downloading, portrait or landscape modes, MP3 player, built-in SD Card expandibility, read-to-you mode, greatest number of ereader formats accommodated

For those who may think they need it, there's no Wi-Fi

Astak EZ Reader Pocket Pro (blue) review

i have had my pocket pro for 1 week now and absolutely love it. there are other reviews on the pocket pro knocking it down for not having wireless or touch screens and a clunky interface. this is more of a no frills device that does what i want an...

With its 5-inch screen, the Astak EZ Reader Pocket Pro is more compact than the Kindle and fits comfortably in one hand when reading; font size is adjustable; decent battery life; displays Word and PDF files (and zooms them); ePub file compatibility...

No built-in Wi-Fi or cellular wireless; no major e-book store tie-ins; quirky interface; somewhat generic feel to the whole device; text-to-speech voice is far too robotic; needs to be priced lower

The compact Astak EZ Reader Pocket Pro has a solid feature set and an affordable price tag, but it faces stiff competition from competing models by Amazon, Sony, and Barnes & Noble that offer better designs, improved navigation, and more features.

Don't hesitate.

My Girlfriend really loves me now. She is an avid reader. She loves the purse size, easy of use and the screen. She kissed me because it has MP3 player as well. I researched a lot on these before I bought this one. It has the best features and is not...

This is a great e-reader

I purchased this for my eleven year old to use with our homeschooling. She can now carry a library's worth of classic literature easily. This is especially helpful in light of the libraries clearing their shelves of the classics. It was easy to learn...

I really like the way that the books can be organized into folders ; Easy to use free texts ; The font size possiblities are fabulous ; Color is great for distinguishing each person's ereader

I haven't really found any - this device is very well suited to the intended purpose

My daughters love these!

  by N/A (newegg.com) - 03-2010

The ereaders have been a great purchase - overall, I am glad that I invested in these for the children to use as educational tools. I have been showing other homeschool moms the readers and discussing how I use them for additional reading.

This sounds silly - but I liked the fact that I can order different colors. These were purchased for my children (ages 11 and 12) to use with their schoolwork. I can find thousands of free books via google books and gutenberg. The e-reader is easy to...

It takes a bit to get used to how to maneuver through the controls (I have been using a nook myself, which seems more intuitive). This is easily resolved by just spending time fooling with the unit and exploring the capabilities. It didn't come in...

Great Reader

  by Samuel (newegg.com) - 03-2010

If you're on the fence about ebook readers, hop off and get one of these. Well worth it.

Great little reader. Has been able to read anything I've thrown at it. Multiple font zoom levels make reading it easy on the eyes. I've had it a month, charged it when I got it and haven't had to plug it in since. The SD card slot means I can load tons...

Some pdf files have a bit of trouble. One graphics heavy book could not be zoomed on. Since it wasn't exactly a legitimate copy anyway, I'm not gonna complain
